Kavinsky Trio: Welcome

BIOGRAPHY

The Kavinsky Trio formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2018 and are dedicated to performing unconventional and contemporary repertoire, and exploring the wide spectrum of timbres and colours that can be created by the combination of violin, saxophone and piano. They have performed various recitals together across London, including in the Royal Academy of Music’s Piano Festival, and were placed Highly Commended in the Isaacs and Pirani Piano Trio Competition at the RAM in 2019. Future engagements will include performing at Edward Elgar’s House, giving the world premiere of a new work by New Zealand-based composer Ross Harris and performing in Robert Schumann's house, Germany. Award-winning saxophonist Rob Burton studies with Huw Wiggin and has performed as a soloist across the UK following his success in BBC Young Musician 2018, in which he performed Creston’s Saxophone Concerto with the CBSO as a Grand Finalist. He has recently given recitals at the Cheltenham Music Festival, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, with future engagements including concertos with Milton Keynes City Orchestra, Jersey Symphony Orchestra as well as multiple concerto premieres. He is a Drake Calleja scholar and a Vandoren UK artist. Violinist Amalia Young is a Young Artist Musical Ambassador for the Music Mind Spirit Trust, leading outreach sessions in association with Live Music Now. She has performed solo and chamber music recitals at St-Martin-in-the-Fields, The Athenaeum Club, and the House of Lords, as well as at the New England Conservatory and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. She studies violin with Philippe Honoré, and is also a mezzo soprano studying voice with Glenville Hargreaves. Pianist Millicent McFall studies with Ian Fountain and is an incredibly versatile musician, having won awards for both classical and jazz piano. She was a finalist in the 9th New York International Piano Competition in 2018 and the Colburn Piano Festival Sonata Competition, and has received outstanding soloist awards at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and the Clark College Jazz Festival. She has performed in numerous venues across the USA, and at Robert Schumann’s house in Germany.
